The Punjab Government has advised not to increase the fees for the 2020-21 session

Chandigarh (Media Bureau) The Punjab Government has advised the private schools not to increase the fees of 2020-21 as compared to the fees charged during the year 2019-20.

In a letter to the administrators / principals of all the private and unaided schools in the state, the Director, Public Instruction (Secondary Education) Sukhjit Pal Singh said that this decision has been taken in view of the lockout.The letter asked the school administrators / principals to allow their parents to pay monthly or quarterly fees. School administrators have been asked to consider the case of children whose parents’ livelihoods have been severely affected by the lockdown. Such students have also been asked to waive the fee / fee waiver and non-payment of fees could not prevent any child from getting education (online or regular).It also directed the school management not to remove any teacher or reduce the monthly salary or the total cost of teaching / non-teaching staff. Schools will endeavor to provide online / distance learning so that education is not adversely affected by the current or future lockout in view of Kovid-19.It also said that schools should not charge any fees during lockdown / curfew except for summer vacations. However, schools that have provided or are providing online education during the lockout may charge only tuition fees in addition to building costs, transportation costs, meals, etc.
