The number of passengers in the country will decline by 47% in 2020 as compared to 2019-AITA

Chandigarh (Media Bureau) According to a report released by the International Air Transport Association (AITA), if the strict ban on air travel continues for three months, the number of passengers in the country will fall by 8.98 crore or 47 per cent this year 2020 as compared to come. This will result in a revenue loss of 12 112.1 million to the airlines. At the same time, the livelihood of 29,32,900 people will be lost.

The report, released for the Asia-Pacific region, predicts more jobs in India, while India will be the third largest loser in terms of revenue deficit after Japan and Australia. The airline’s earnings are expected to fall by more than 2.2 billion in Japan and more than 4 1.4 billion in Australia. AITA had earlier said in a report released on April 14 that the number of passengers in India would fall by 36 per cent, causing a revenue loss of 88 884 million and loss of employment for 22.47 lakh people.

Connaught Clifford, AITA’s vice president for the Asia-Pacific region, said the situation had worsened since the previous report. Airlines are struggling to survive. Many airlines could be shut down if governments do not help them.
