To help the needy in this hour of crisis, 50 city councilors and two social workers donated Rs. 9 lakh 20 thousand to Mayor Sanjeev Sharma. The mayor presented the amount to Corporation Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur on Wednesday afternoon. The mayor said everyone was playing a commendable role in this hour of crisis. The councilors have so far provided all possible assistance to the needy in their wards.Following the orders of the government, it has provided langar facility to the people at its level including distribution of rations. Fifty councilors including the Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor Yoginder Singh Yogi, Deputy Mayor Vinti Sangar have contributed one month’s salary to the Covid-19 Relief Fund. Apart from this, social worker Deepak Kampani has given checks of Rs. 31,000 and Rs. 11,000 to Sadbhavana Hospital in the relief fund.Corporation Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur thanked the Mayor after accepting a check of Rs. 9 lakh 20 thousand. He said that in this hour of crisis, the councilors who have given their one month salary to the relief fund deserve praise. He said that through this relief fund all possible help would be given to the needy people.Earlier some people have given their full support to the district administration by providing rations and langar services to the needy people. “With the cooperation of all, we will be able to overcome this epidemic,” he said.
