Chandigarh (Media Bureau) After May 3, the government has started brainstorming to lift the curfew imposed in Punjab due to coronavirus. Given the growing number of cases of corona, any decision on lifting the curfew has to be made with forethought. The government has set up a 20-member committee on how and when to lift the curfew.
The government is concerned that the imposition of a joint curfew across the state will increase the risk of infection. Therefore, on the recommendation of the committee, the timing of lifting of curfew will be taken into consideration that it should be lifted in phases. So that no one is at risk of infection. There will also be a brainstorming about lifting curfews in hotspot districts or infected areas.
The government will formulate its strategy on the basis of the report of this committee. Only after the Centre’s decision will the committee decide whether the curfew should be lifted in the state or not as the government also has a lot of concerns. The government is in favor of phasing out the curfew.
