Chandigarh (Media Bureau) The Punjab Government has issued an advisory for safe use of air conditioners / coolers in residential areas, hospitals and offices in view of COVID-19. A spokesperson of the government said that with the onset of summer season in the last few weeks, some question marks have come up regarding the safe use of air conditioners / coolers in view of Covid-19. The air conditioner works on the rule of re-circulating the air in a room for re-cooling and in the case of the current Covid-19 there are some worrying concerns that the use of air conditioner in large places like malls, Use in the office, hospital, etc. can be a big danger to people.
The state has decided to issue some guidelines by issuing an advisory on the use of air conditioners / coolers at various places to allay such concerns. Giving information about the guidelines for the use of air conditioning in different places, he said that in residential areas and rooms, air conditioners should be kept cool as well as with a small window open and let the outside air in through the exhaust fan. Should be drained by natural filtration.
Room temperature should be set between 24-27 C and humidity should be between 40% – 70%. Air conditioners should be repaired from time to time to keep the filters clean. A large number of exhaust fans can be installed in the rooms to create a negative pressure in the room and ensure the ingress of fresh air. The air circulating inside the room should be ventilated frequently.
