Power supply should be provided for at least 16 hours daily – Kisan Union

Patiala (Arvinder Joshan) Implementing the call made by 10 Farmers Associations of Punjab, Revolutionary Farmers Union in Patiala District, District Unit of Punjab has organized Phagnamajra, Balberha, Bhadson, Tohra, Bahadurgarh, Devigarh, Samana, Patran, Nabha in Patiala A memorandum to the Chief Minister, Punjab Power Minister and Agriculture Minister, Punjab and Chairman cum Managing Director Powercom regarding the urgent power related demands by visiting the offices of Rakhra, Sanaur etc. sub divisions and divisions.(Punjab State Electricity Board) in the name of S. D. O and Ex. In front of each sub division or divisional office a large number of farmers carrying the flags of the organization, chanting slogans and protesting sent the memorandum through the officials to the Punjab Government and the Chairman of the Power Board.Disclosing this here today District General Secretary Krantikari Kisan Union Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dittupur said that to make these programs a success today the district leaders of Krantikari Kisan Union including District President Mr. Jang Singh Bhaterhi, State Vice President Mr. Harbhajan Singh Butter, Nirmal from Singh Lachkani, Dara Singh Paharpur, Darshan Singh Sheikhupura, Avtar Singh Kaurjiwala,Mr. Dhanna Singh Sionan, Mr. Avtar Singh Chalela, Mr. Davinder Singh Manjal Kalan, Mr. Kuldeep Singh Suniarherhi, Mr. Parminder Singh Poonia led today’s protests and demonstrations in front of various offices and strongly demanded that Power supply for direct sowing should be started immediately and at least 16 hours of uninterrupted daily supply should be provided.The farmers who have no connection should be given temporary connection and diesel for diesel powered tubewells should be given at 50% subsidy and the rate of diesel should be reduced to Rs. 22 per liter. Is taking more than all the states.The leaders demanded that the rate of electricity be fixed at Rs. 2 per unit, immediate repeal of Electricity Amendment Bill 2020, waiver of 2 months electricity bill keeping in view the plight of farmers and general public during the lockdown. To increase the load of electricity, VDS should be maintained throughout the year and no fee should be charged on it.The leaders appealed to the Punjab government and the board to immediately consider the demands contained in the memorandum otherwise the organizations would be forced to intensify their struggle.
