PGI raises hands after Corona blast

Chandigarh (Media Bureau) In view of the Corona eruption, PGI Chandigarh has made it clear that only critically ill patients would be treated here. Neighboring states in particular have been directed to send critically ill patients to PGI Chandigarh only after covid testing. Patients arriving without prior notice to PGI will not be attended. PGI has raised its hand in view of the large number of patients coming from Punjab, Haryana and other states. PGI Director Prof. Jagat Ram raised the issue with Administrator VP Singh Badnaur, after which Administrator Badnaur directed Principal Secretary Health AK Gupta to inform the neighboring states. PGI Director Prof. A committee has also been constituted under the chairmanship of Jagat Ram, which will work out a protocol to reduce congestion in hospitals. The situation has worsened due to all the openings in the Unlock-1 plan. People from Delhi NCR in particular are bringing Kovid. The administrator has issued these instructions to prevent this interstate infection. There have been more than 30 cases in the Tricity from places like Punjab, Haryana or Delhi. Ordinary patients are also being referred to Chandigarh. They are being referred for PGI or GMCH-32 without corona testing. After coming to Chandigarh, the reports of many such patients have come positive, after which only critically ill patients can now be referred for corona test. Ordinary patients will not be treated in Chandigarh. The PGI director has objected to this several times before. This time the administrator has asked the Home cum Health Secretary to talk to the neighboring states.
