Now Captain Sahib also wants to start selling liquor soon

Chandigarh (Media Bureau) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking sale of liquor in the state. Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday demanded an interim compensation of Rs 3,000 crore for the month of April due to the Covid-19 national catastrophe.

He said that the Union Home Ministry should strictly follow the social distance and other measures to prevent Kovid-19 and allow sale of liquor in certain areas in a phased manner. This will allow collection of VAT and excise revenue. This will settle the liabilities of the state and some of the daily expenses.

The Captain also demanded immediate release of Rs. 4400 crore arrears of GST. The Chief Minister said that in view of the health and relief operations, there was a huge burden on the exchequer of Punjab which would continue to grow. No revenue assistance is available due to closure of businesses and industries.
