Chandigarh (Media Bureau) The annual update of data by the icc international cricket council on Friday led to the drop of india’s icc test ranking from the top to number three. Australian cricket team has successed india as the world’s new number one test cricket team.
India lost the top spot for the first time since october 2016, but even know, the virat kohli led test squard continous to lead the icc world test championship, an international lead cintinused by top nine teams of world test cricket in which each team has to play six test series in total.
India’s record in 2016-2017 was exceptionaly as the team had won all the five sries during that period including the ones against australia and south africa. However the australian side had lost to south africa as well to india during the same corresponding period.
India lost the number one spot because in the latest revisions of the icc ranking data the record of 12 test victories and just one loss from 2016 to 2017 period was taken out its ranking database.
India was scheduled to play a 2test match long series against new zeland in march 2020, but both the fixtures were canselled due to the on going covid-19
