Amritsar (Media Bureau) June 6 is the anniversary of Operation Blue Star. Every year a large number of Sikhs join the prayers at the Akal Takht but the Central Government has allowed the opening of religious places from June 8. SGPC President Gobind Singh Longowal has appealed to the Sikh community to join the prayers at home and thanked both the Center and the state governments for allowing the SGPC to open religious places.President Gobind Singh Longowal said that the SGPC would take full care of social distance and sanitation. Mr. Longowal also thanked the Chief Minister for accepting the request of the Punjab Government to change the fringed turbans of the police personnel.
