The demand was raised by the industrialists of Punjab during a video conference with VK Janjua, the Chief Secretary of the Punjab Labor Department. Corona’s fear of a return to workforce is plaguing industrialists’ fears of a labor shortage. Chairman of the Punjab unit of PHD Chamber, Karen Gilhotra, said that wheat harvest has started in the state. The industry is also likely to witness a shortage of labor for a few weeks due to increased labor demand in the agricultural sector.
Gilhotra said that it was considered to work 12 hours. Where the big entrepreneurs will arrange the accommodation of the employees in the industrial complex, working 12 hours will be in the interest of both the employee and the company. VK Janju said that the Punjab government could issue a notification soon. The central government has given some concessions in terms of lockdown from April 20.
Let us state that the Union Home Ministry has allowed the Punjab Government to bring industrialization to a standstill. He also allowed to open dhabas, air conditioners, coolers, fans and repair shops on the banks of the highway. The sale of stone crusher, sand, cement and steel has also been allowed in the state. Transportation will also be exempt for the transportation of construction materials. To ensure that there is no shortage of workers in the meantime, the state government is considering allowing 12 hours of work for workers.
