Patiala (Arvinder Joshan) Demand letters were handed over to DCs of their respective districts across Punjab in protest of non-receipt of drivers’ summaries by the government. Even in cities like Ludhiana and Jalandhar, people started taking off their clothes in front of the DC office.Leading the demand for drivers in Patiala, Khushwant Sharma said that today around 122 representatives from various schools across the district and Aam Aadmi Party in-charge of Patiala Rural Preeti Malhotra, Meg Chand Shermajra, RPS Malhotra, Sanjeev Gupta, Beant, Ladi ji, Harpreet Singh, Balwinder Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Birshpal, Manjit Singh, Shiv Kumar and many other workers and drivers’ organizations took part in the protest rally.On the occasion Mr. Sharma said that he demanded from the Punjab government like the Delhi government to put at least 5000 months in the driver’s account so that the starving drivers could support themselves. At the same time these drivers should be exempted from electricity bills, water bills, vehicle taxes, passing insurance.At the same time, school fees of at least 6 months should be waived for the education of their children. As their employment has been closed for the last two months, according to the government, it is not expected to continue for another two months. Therefore, while the government is showing seriousness towards other works, it should also take stock of those working in the field of transport.
