Delhi (Media Bureau) The number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 26,917 on Tuesday while the death toll has surged to 826, according to latest data by the ministry of health and family welfare. Of the total number of cases, there are 20,177 active cases, while 5,914 people have been cured and discharged from hospitals Maharashtra remain the worst affected state with 7,628 cases and 323 fatalities.
The death toll in the UNITED STATE has jumped to more than 53,000 after the virus claimed the lives of 2,494 in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed cases has crossed 9.3 lakh. Globally the number of cases soared past 2.9 million.
Prime Minister NARINDER MODI on Sunday addressed the 64th edition of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ amid the nationwide coronavirus lockdown saying that India fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic is people- driven. He said people have been taking lead in various sectors in fight against the deadly virus such as distribution of food to the poor, the supply of masks and in following the lockdown measures.
The prime minister said that people are rising to help each other and stress on the need to wear masks, speciallyhandmade or ‘Gamchha’ (towel)
